Course Description

Prerequisite: It is recommended that you have a Community Moodle course prior to attending this workshop. Prior experience with Moodle is not required for this workshop. 

Description: The LSU Community Moodle instance was designed to provide a location for hosting non-academic online learning environments for LSU associates. The courses to be hosted might include not-for-credit classes, club or organization sponsored areas and online training sites.  Courses for which a monetary charge to the participant is required are not housed on Community Moodle. To request a Community course, users need only send all relevant information (course name, reason for request, who will be the primary instructor(s)) to the Faculty Technology Center (ftc@lsu.edu).

This workshop will cover the most commonly used features used in Community Moodle. Topics that will be address during this workshop are:

  • Basic interface: Navigation, Customization, and Block Docking
  • Enrollment/Assign roles: Self enrollment/ Enrolling students and additional instructors
  • Course settings: Course format, availability
  • Adding course resources: Files, folders (of files), labels, webpages, URLs
  • Creating activities: Student assignments submissions, forums, quizzes
  • Completion tracking & access control
  • Communication with students: E-mail, news forum
