This will be the second meeting for the Online Teaching Cohort at LSU. Presentation: Using Videos to Enhance Your Course- Tools & Best Practices

Description:
In addition to other uses and benefits, videos are used in courses to support student’s self-regulated/ self-directed learning, improve students’ learning outcomes and academic achievement, increase social presence, and to present information in a different way. This presentation will provide an overview of several video tools available at LSU including Kaltura, WebEx, Panopto, and VoiceThread. Presenters will also discuss video creation best practices to keep in mind when creating and sharing videos for your hybrid or online course.

By the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to:

  • Explore video technologies for supporting hybrid/online instruction
  • Distinguish between various video tools to support learning objectives/outcomes. Tools include: Kaltura (Video Resource and Assignment), WebEx, Panopto, and VoiceThread.
  • Identify methods to use videos to enhance social presence and self-directed learning.
  • Describe actions to take in order for videos to be compliant with ADA standards.  
  • Identify services and resources available to you for assistance with video creation at LSU.
