To ensure managers are fully equipped to welcome and engage team members, HRM has developed a specialized course to educate managers on how to effectively utilize the onboarding guide, warmly integrate new employees, and much more! Managing 101 will serve as both a bootcamp and an introduction to our Management Foundation Series (MFS).

Management Foundation Series - Managing Teams

In this course learn team dynamics, leadership, culture, and the team formation process to help you build and lead effective teams. You will learn how to identify different styles of communication and preferences among the team to facilitate effective communication, and learn how to craft team dynamics that include empowerment, trust, and coaching. Finally, you will learn about the importance of a team mission, vision, and values to the overall success of a team.

Management Foundation Series: Managing Performance

Learn how to identify and respond to a performance problems, identify ways to increase motivation and solve ability related performance issues, provide specific feedback, and address performance issues through the positive discipline process. This class involves an overview of how to diagnose, respond, address performance issues and includes role-playing and case study analysis to help managers practice these valuable skills.

Benefits & Retirement Orientation

As a new employee, you are encouraged to attend the Benefits and Retirement Orientation within two weeks of your start date. Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m. Orientation begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes by 12:00 p.m. Orientation will provide you with information on LSU, employee benefits, retirement plans and parking permits. Employees eligible for benefits have 30 days from the date of hire (or date of eligibility) to complete enrollment documents and submit them to the Office of HRM
