Course Description

Note: This workshop is aimed for faculty who will be starting one-to-one course development cycle for LSU Online (courses that are for fully online programs offered through LSU Online) at the LSU A&M campus; however, all faculty and graduate teaching assistants are welcome to register and attend.

Alignment is the intentional connection between course outcomes, learning objectives, assessments, activities, and materials. Course alignment builds a strong cohesive framework, helps ensure that both you and your students have accurate expectations about what will be taught in your course, and that students are practicing and demonstrating the skills you want them to learn. Join us for this interactive workshop where we will guide you through designing or refining course outcomes and learning objectives and aligning them with assessments, activities, and materials.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  1. Write clear, observable, and student-centered course outcomes
  2. Deconstruct an outcome into measurable and specific module learning objectives
  3. Align assessments to outcomes and objectives
  4. Identify career-relevant skills that students could develop through your course

To prepare for this workshop, please complete the following tasks:

  1. Watch the following Learn & Geaux video to get a preliminary overview of what will be covered in the workshop: Alignment (Length: 3:17).
  2. Bring a copy of your course description and course outcomes to use during the workshop. Having these on hand will allow you to apply the concepts directly to your own course.

Note: This workshop will run contingent on the enrollment of five or more registrants. If a quorum of five hasn’t been established by two days prior to the session, we will cancel the workshop and notify registrants.
