Course Description

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness invites graduate students, faculty, and staff to the in-person sessions for the Certificate of Achievement in Student Learning Assessment. Both sessions must be attended in their entirety to earn the certificate. Refreshments will be served.

The first sessions covers: Foundation and Fundamentals of Assessment, Assessment Planning, and Assessment Reporting.  Upon successful completion of this session, participants will be able to: define assessment, describe the value of assessment, understand the assessment process at LSU,  write meaningful assessment plans, annual student learning assessment reports, and program impact reports.

The second session covers Rubric Development, Using Evidence, and Actionable Insights. Upon successful completion of this session, participants will be able to classify varying types of rubrics and construct a rubric that can be used for assessment, discuss the appropriateness of evidence collected, how using multiple measures and integrating student learning data with institutional data can help tell your program/unit story, discuss common barriers often found when collecting evidence for student learning assessment purposes, and how to use data collected through the assessment process to make best practice data-driven decisions.

Session registration is required two weeks in advance. A minimum of three attendees must register for the session to be held. Details will be emailed prior to the session.
