Format: Fully online asynchronous course in Moodle
Developed and facilitated by LSU Online & Continuing Education, this course is designed for anyone who is new to teaching online or is interested in learning more about facilitating an online course. Participants will explore best practices in making connections with students, creating a community of learning, and delivering an engaging experience for their students. Many of the strategies covered in this course are also applicable to blended courses.
Through this instructor-led four-week asynchronous online course, you will have the opportunity to learn from your peers and explore aspects of online learning and teaching. You can anticipate spending 15-20 hours to complete the course.

- Regulatory requirements for online courses
- Communicating with students
- Instructor presence
- Active learning strategies
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Craft a course policy section of your syllabus that includes expectations for grading timeliness, office hours, active participation, and meets federal guidelines for Regulatory and Substantive Interactions (RSI)
- Plan active learning strategies for your course to engage students with you, the content, and each other
- Identify Moodle and campus support services and resources for faculty and students access as needed.

Registration for this course will close two days prior to the start date. Information regarding access to the Moodle course and additional course information will be shared with participants via email prior to the start of the course.
This course will run contingent on the enrollment of five or more registrants. If a quorum of five hasn’t been established two days prior to the start of the course, we will cancel the course and notify registrants.
